Raymond E. Peters, known to ophthalmologists in the Washington, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia areas [now reloacted to Naples, FL], has served Mager and Gougelman, Inc., of Washington, D.C. since 1957. As Senior Ocular Prosthetist, Consultant and Researchist, he specializes in artificial eyes, scleral lenses, ocular implants, maxillo facial prosthetics and audio inserts. With his office located in suburban Washington (Suitland, Maryland) since 1973, he has assisted in resolving fitting problems for literally thousands of patients and ophthalmologists from coast to coast and from the international community. In addition, Ray Peters has been responsible for the continuing care and treatment of these parties.
As a consultant to the Burton Parsons Pharmaceutical Company and Milton Roy Company, he has initiated the development of the artificial eye care kit which has been highly beneficial to patients who wear artificial eyes.
Ray Peters has conducted artificial eye clinics on procedure and fabrication to ophthalmology residents in the Washington community. He has also served as Chief of the Artificial Eye and Restoration Clinic of the Veteran's Administration, Washington D.C. and Middle Atlantic Region from 1952 - 1957. During this period he introduced the soft audio insert to the Veteran's Administration.
His academic training, relative to the prosthetics has been in (dental technology, 1945 - 1946), (dental prosthetics technology advanced 1946 - 1947), (cosmetic ocular prosthetics, 1948 - 1950 at Bethesda Naval Hospital), (1950-1952 Korean War Service - U.S. Navy Medical Corp.), (1952 - 1957 Veteran's Administration, Chief of Plastic eye restoration clinic, advanced techniques in cosmetic prosthetics, ocular, facial, limb), 1957 - present, contact lens seminars, and President of Mager and Gougelman, Inc. of Washington, D.C.
As a totally dedicated and highly qualified professional, Ray Peters has made a practice of being readily available to his patients and the ophthalmology community for consultation on any specific ocular prosthetic or contact lens problem.
